Associate Director – Enterprise Data Planning
This role is based in Barcelona, with an on-site commitment of three days a week. Fluency in English is required.

Join AstraZeneca in Barcelona as an Associate Director for Enterprise Data Planning, where you'll play a pivotal role in transforming our data capabilities. With a commitment to working on-site three days a week, you'll be at the heart of our Enterprise Data Office (EDO), driving data strategy and optimizing our enterprise data portfolio. Collaborate with stakeholders across AstraZeneca to align data, technology, and processes, accelerating our data and AI strategy. Partner with the IGNITE Business Operations and Transformation group to integrate operating model changes, ensuring we maximize value while managing risk.
Accountabilities
1. Own the process and support the SEDO leaders in the creation, maintenance, and tracking of an ongoing data strategy for the company.
2. Support the planning and execution phases of the enterprise data strategy under the guidance of the Head of the EDO, ensuring timely and correct progress in data strategy delivery.
3. Develop and implement strategic planning processes for identifying and prioritizing data product/asset needs across different functional areas in the organization.
4. Support alignment of Enterprise Data Strategy with related strategies including IT2030, emerging AI Strategy, and functional data strategies.
Essential Skills/Experience
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Data Management or STEM subject
- 2-5 years experience in industry data management
- Managerial experience in matrix orgs
- Agile project management skills: demand management, backlog prioritization, delivery coordination
- Good influencing and stakeholder management skills
- Good understanding of data capabilities, frameworks and strategic approaches to data
- Ability to synthesize complex data concepts and models into easy to understand proposals, strategy and communication materials
- Delivery focus – ability to set and work across teams to meet tight objectives
Desirable Skills/Experience
- Masters in Computer Science and Data Management or suitable experience
- Proven experience of leading data strategy and planning
- Industry experience with data in large, complex data settings, consultancy or vendor experience
- Demonstrate initiative, strong customer orientation, and cross-cultural working
- Ability to influence senior leadership on plans and approaches
